I took possession of "The
Little Black Car" as we refer to our black, totally stock, 5
speed 87 GT in May of 07. My brother bought her in
February of 87. In 07 he had a hip operation and could not
drive it anymore. He wanted me to have it as I had always
loved it and he knew I would maintain her properly and keep her
stock.
We picked her up in Toronto where he lived and I grew up, loaded
her on a trailer and towed her down to SC behind " Our
Great White Whale", our 40' Allegro Bus.
When I got her home I bought a set of standard gauges and
replaced the metric ones. The car had 139800 Kilometers
(86816 Miles) on it and the used speedometer I bought had 76918
miles on it. Close enough.
I joined the GA Fiero Club this year (2011) and my wife Karin
and myself have participated in a few runs with the club,
including the RFTH 16 and are really enjoying the group.
I am possibly the oldest member of the club, 72 going on 18 but
I am still a very spirited driver and Karin trusts me after
riding with me for over 50 years. We hope to still be
driving our "Little Black Car" for another ten or twenty years.
By the way, we did the Tail of the Dragon in our 40' Bus
accidentally one day a few years ago during a crotch rocket
race.
